Teen anxiety & confidence
Calm, practical support to help teenagers feel more confident, capable, and less overwhelmed by anxiety.
The teenage years can be intense. Anxiety often shows up alongside school pressure, social worries, self-doubt, or a sense of being constantly on edge. For some teens, anxiety becomes something they quietly carry; for others, it starts to affect confidence, sleep, attendance, or everyday life.
At The Nest Hypnotherapy, I support teenagers to understand what’s happening in their minds and bodies, develop practical coping skills, and feel more confident handling challenges as they arise.
Sessions are available in person in Oxfordshire or online.
How anxiety often shows up in teenagers
Anxiety in teens doesn’t always look like panic. It may show up as:
+ School stress or pressure around performance
+ Social anxiety or fear of judgement
+ Low confidence or negative self-talk
+ Avoidance (school, social situations, activities)
+ Emotional overwhelm or irritability
+ Difficulty switching off or sleeping
Every teenager is different — and anxiety can look very different from one person to the next.
How I work with teenagers
My work is based on cognitive behavioural hypnotherapy, adapted to suit teenagers.
Together, we focus on:
+ understanding anxious thought patterns
+ recognising how anxiety affects behaviour and confidence
+ reducing avoidance gently and at a manageable pace
+ building emotional regulation and self-belief
+ using hypnosis as a supportive tool to reinforce calm and confidence
Sessions are collaborative and age-appropriate. Teenagers are encouraged to be involved in understanding their own patterns, so they leave with skills they can use independently.
What sessions are like
Sessions are calm, structured, and respectful of each teenager’s pace and personality.
Some teenagers like to talk; others prefer practical tools, metaphors, or guided exercises. Hypnosis is always explained clearly and used in a way that feels safe and comfortable.
Parents can be involved in sessions in whatever way feels most helpful. Some teenagers prefer their parent to be present for part of the session, while others like more space — we’ll always talk this through together and decide what feels right.
Is this the right support for your teenager?
This approach may be helpful if your teenager:
+ struggles with anxiety, confidence, or school stress
+ avoids situations because they feel overwhelming
+ overthinks or is very self-critical
+ wants practical tools, not just reassurance
+ needs support that feels calm, structured, and non-judgemental
If you’re unsure, an initial conversation can help you decide whether this feels like a good fit.
